Description

For sample adults, PROCMEATMTP reports the time unit (i.e., day, week, month, or year) which corresponds with the frequency with which the respondent reported eating processed meat. The survey question specifies that processed meats include bacon, lunch meats, or hot dogs. PROCMEATMTP should be used in conjunction with PROCMEATMNO, which reports the corresponding frequency stated by the respondent. PROCMEATMTP was first introduced in 2010; previous survey years ask about different types of processed meats separately (e.g., bacon BACOTP, lunch meat LUNMEATP, and hot dogs HOTDOGTP).

PROCMEATMTP is part of a series of variables initiated in 1987 related to food, food knowledge, and cancer.
