Description

For sample adults, PROCMEATMNO reports how many times the respondent ate processed meat in a specified time period. The survey question specifies that processed meats include bacon, lunch meats, or hot dogs. PROCMEATMNO should be used in conjunction with PROCMEATMTP, which reports the corresponding time unit (i.e., day, week, month, or year) stated by the respondent. PROCMEATMNO was first introduced in 2010; previous survey years ask about different types of processed meats separately (e.g., bacon BACONO, lunch meat LUNMEANO, and hot dogs HOTDOGNO).

PROCMEATMNO is part of a series of variables initiated in 1987 related to food, food knowledge, and cancer.
