Description

For children under 10 whose household sample person had heard of poison control centers (POISCENHEARCH), POISCENNOCH reports if the sample person knew the telephone number for the local poison control center. Poison control centers are places that provide free information or consultation in the event of a poison emergency. The answer provided by the household sample adult was applied to the person record for any children under age 10 in the household; children's records should not be interpreted as meaning that the child had knew the telephone number for the poison control center.

POISCENNOCH is part of the Health Promotion and Child Safety Supplement. For related variables and more information about this supplement, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
