For persons with at least four reported problems during the past 12 months, PODPROB4TP indicates the time unit of the duration of the person's fourth reported foot problem. This variable should be used in conjunction with PODPROB4NO, which indicates the corresponding number of units.
PODPROB4TP is part of the NHIS Podiatry Supplement, introduced in 1990. The purpose of this supplement is to obtain current data concerning problems with the feet, access to foot care, and the amount, frequency, and type of foot care obtained.
