Description

For female sample persons age 18 and over who have heard of and had a Pap smear/Pap test (PAPEV) with results that were not normal (PAPAB), PAPABCAN reports whether the Pap test and/or subsequent tests or procedures indicated that they had cancer.

Comparability

This variable is completely comparable over time.

Universe

  • 1987: Half of female sample persons age 18+ (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have ever heard of a pap smear test and have ever had a pap smear and have ever had abnormal results.
