Description

For female sample adults age 18 and over who have had a Pap smear/Pap test (PAPEV) with results that were not normal (PAPAB), PAPABBADDT reports whether the respondent had additional follow-up exams or tests because of the abnormal results.

Comparability

Other than a slight change in universe between 1987 and subsequent years, this variable is comparable over time.

Universe

  • 1987: Half of female sample persons age 18+ who have ever heard of Pap smear test, who have ever had a Pap smear test, and have ever had abnormal Pap smear results.
  • 2000; 2005: Female sample adults age 18+ who have had abnormal Pap smear results.
