Description

Respondents reported the duration of their pain the last time they had pain. This question was only asked of respondents who reported that they had pain at least some days in the last 3 months (PAINFREQ3MO).

Comparability

There were changes in the universe for this variable over time. For specific information on how the universe changed, please refer to the "Universe" tab.

Universe

  • 2010: One quarter of sample adults, included in quality of life supplement (and excluded from family disability supplement), who have had frequent pain (or for whom this was unknown) or who have had pain some days, most days, or every day, or an unknown number of days in the past 3 months.
  • 2011: Sample adults 18+ who had pain some days, most days or every day, or refused to answer or didn't know how often they had pain in the past 3 months.
