Description

Respondents who acknowledged having frequent pain (PAINFREQ) or who had pain at least some days during the past 3 months (PAINFREQ3MO) reported whether they agreed with the following statement: "When I get my mind on other things, I am not aware of the pain."

This item was collected for sample adults who completed the Quality of Life supplement (administered to approximately a quarter of sample adults).

Comparability

There are no comparability problems with PAINDISTRAC.

Universe

  • 2010: One quarter of sample adults, included in quality of life supplement (and excluded from family disability supplement), who have frequent pain (or for whom this was unknown) or who have had pain some days, most days, every day, or an unknown number of days in the past 3 months.
