Description

For sample persons under age 18 who took at least one medicine other than pain relievers, cough medicines, other cold medicines or remedies, asthma or allergy medicines, topical steroids, other skin ointments or slaves, laxatives, vitamins or minerals, tranquilizers or sedatives, and antibiotics in past 2 weeks (MOMED12W), MOMED12WRX reports if the person got a prescription from a doctor for them to take or use the first medication. MOMED12WRX is part of the "Medicine Use" section of the 1981 Child Health Supplement.

For those who respond "yes" to MOMED12W, the following information is collected:

  • The main health problem the respondent used the first other medicine for (MOMED12WPROB),
  • Whether a doctor recommended the use of the first other medicine (MOMED12WDREC), and
  • How often the respondent used the first other medicine in the past 3 months (MOMED12WFREQ)
