Description

For female sample persons or sample adults aged 35 and older in 1990 and aged 30 and older after 1990, who ever had a mammogram(MAMEV), MAMLY reports the main reason they had their most recent mammogram.

Comparability

Comparability may be affected by changes in the universe and response categories and the questionnaire redesign introduced in 2019. Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the information was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights. Finally, the NHIS questionnaire was substantially redesigned in 2019 to introduce a different data collection structure and new content. For more information on changes in terminology, universes, and data collection methods beginning in 2019, please see the user note.
