Description

For female sample adults aged 30 and over, MAMDR1YR reports whether a doctor or other health professional recommended mammogram in past 12 months. Respondents were told in the interview that a mammogram is an x-ray taken only of the breast by a machine that presses against the breast.

Comparability

Apart from changes in the universe, there are no comparability issues.

Universe

  • 2000: Female sample adults age 30+ who REF/NA/DK if ever had a mammogram, or who have not had a mammogram in the past 2 years or ever and gave reason other than "no doctor" or "doctor didn't recommend."
  • 2005; 2008: Female sample adults age 30+ who have had a mammogram, or who have not had a mammogram in the past 2 years or ever and gave reason other than "no doctor" or "doctor didn't recommend."
  • 2010: Female sample adults 30+ who never had or have not had a mammogram in the past 2 years and gave a reason other than "no doctor" or "doctor didn't recommend" for never or not having a mammogram in the past 2 years or have had a mammogram within the past 2 years
  • 2013; 2015: Female sample adults 30+ who did not answer, refused, or responded don't know to initial mammogram question.
