Description
For sample adults, LVISGENSPEC indicates if the respondent saw a general doctor, specialist, or someone else on the last health care visit.
Beginning in 2012, the question wording for LVISGENSPEC was modified and a new response category (nurse practitioner/physician assistant) was added. The corresponding four new variables (LVISGENERAL, LVISPECIAL, LVISNURSE, LVISOTHER) were created to indicate this change.
This variable can be used to monitor the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
