For sample children under age 18, LUNGPROBYR reports responses to the question, "During the past 12 months, has a doctor or other health professional told you that [sample child] had ... Lung or breathing problems, other than asthma?"
For 1997 forward, ASTHMAEV identifies sample adults and sample children whom a doctor or other health professional ever diagnosed as having asthma. For those with an affirmative response in ASTHMAEV, ASTHATAKYR identifies sample adults and sample children who had an asthma attack or episode during the past 12 months. Beginning in 2001, those with an affirmative response in ASTHMAEV were also asked whether they still had asthma (ASTHMASTIL).
