Description

For sample persons aged 18 and over, JOBCORPSY reports whether the sample person has been in the Job Corps in the past 12 months. Job Corps is a free-of-charge program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that aims to improve the quality of life for youth ages 16 to 24 through vocational and academic training.

JOBCORPSY is part of the AIDS Knowledge and Attitudes Supplement, which provides detailed information on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), perceptions of and discrimination against individuals with AIDS, knowledge about HIV transmission, perceived likelihood transmission by casual contact, experience with blood donation and HIV antibody testing, content of post-test counseling, and use of professional mental health counseling because of concern about AIDS. For more information about this supplement or other related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
