Description
For female sample adults age 18 to 64 who did not reporting having had an HPV shot (HPVACHAD), HPVACINT indicates whether they would be interested in getting the HPV vaccine.
Respondents who said that they would not be interested in getting the HPV vaccine (i.e., with a "No" response in HPVACINT) were asked the main reason why they would not want to get the vaccine (HPVACNOWHY).
Persons who were interested in getting the vaccine, and those who were not interested because the vaccine was "too expensive," were asked additional questions about whether they would get vaccinated under different cost scenarios:
- Would get HPV vaccine if cost 350 to 500 dollars (HPVACGET500)
- Would SC get HPV vaccine if it were free/at a lower cost (HPVACGETFRE)
The 2008, 2009, and 2010 NHIS contained other inquiries related to HPV, including knowledge of the virus, whether ever diagnosed with the virus, and whether ever vaccinated against HVP. For a full list of HPV-related variables and other information, including definitions, see HPVHEAR.
