Description

For persons covered by a health insurance plan (excluding Medicare) that pays for pay part of a hospital bill, HOSPOTHR reports if the person had some other type of private hospital plan, in addition to the first private plan mentioned (HOSPPRIV), and not counting (other than) Medicare coverage.

Interviewers told respondents, "We are interested in all kinds of health insurance plans except those which pay only for accidents. (Not counting Medicare), Is anyone in the family covered by hospital insurance, that is, a health insurance plan which pays any part of a hospital bill?" Interviewers then asked, "Is anyone in the family covered by any other hospital insurance plan?"
