Description

For all persons for whom the respondent can name a health maintenance organization (HMO) or prepaid group practice plan (PGPP) and who belong to an HMO or PGPP, HMOPLAN1NO reports the number for the length of time he or she has belonged to the first HMO/PGPP plan. HMOPLAN1NO should be combined with HMOPLAN1TP which provides the time unit for the number.

This variable is part of the NHIS supplement on HMO coverage.
