Description

For all persons covered by any state sponsored health care plan (HISTATEE), HIOTHPUBPCP indicates if the person is required to sign up with a certain primary care doctor, group of doctors, or certain clinic which he or she must go to for all of routine care. Interviewers instructed respondents to not include emergency care or care from a specialist.

HIOTHPUBPCP reflects responses that have been edited based on plan names. The frequencies reported in HIOTHPUBPCP reflect individuals correctly assigned by the NCHS to "other" government coverage, based on the plan name. See the variable description for HISTATEE for more details.
