Description
For persons who did not have continuous coverage in the past year without any changes in coverage, HIINDYR reports whether the person had Indian Health Service coverage in the past 12 months.
If the person was uninsured, interviewers asked what the type of coverage the person most recently had. If the person had a period without coverage in the past year, interviewers asked about the type of coverage before this period of uninsurance. If person had a change in coverage type in the past year, interviewers asked about the type of coverage prior to the change in coverage.
This variable can be used to monitor the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
