Description

For sample children age 7 to 17 (in 1991) or 7 to 15 (in 1998)who played lacrosse as part of an organized sport during the past 12 months (PLAYLACROS), HGLACROS reports responses to the question, "During the past 12 months, when playing lacrosse, how often did [sample child] wear protective headgear-- all or most of the time, some of the time, once in awhile, or never?"

The 1991 Field Representative's Manual defines "organized sports" as any sport that has a sponsor, including school-related activities (such as school varsity or junior varsity teams, intramural or club sports, and physical education classes) or sports played through community organizations, Little League, recreation centers, or Scouts, as well as private lessons.
