Description
For sample adults in 2007 and sample adults and children in 2012 who had taken herbal supplements during the past 30 days (HERMO) and whose supplements included at least one combination herb pill (HERMOCOMBO), HER1COMECH indicates whether Echinacea was among the herbs included in the first combination herb pill.
Related Variables

Comparability
Interviewers showed respondents a flash card listing specific herbs and asked which supplements respondents had taken in the past 30 days. There were slight changes in the question wording and flash cards over time. For the specific question wording in each year, please click on the "Survey Text" tab.

- 2007: Sample adults age 18+ who have taken at least one combination herb pill during the past 30 days.
- 2012: Sample adults age 18+ and sample children of ages 4-17 who have taken a select number of combination herb pill(s) in the past 30 days
