Description
For sample persons aged 18 years and over, HEALTHPROB indicates which disease the respondent thinks is the country's most serious health problem when choosing between heart disease, AIDS, diabetes, and cancer. Respondents could only choose one answer.
HEALTHPROB is part of a series of variables that gather data about people's knowledge and attitudes around disease in general as well as specific diseases. For more information please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
Universe
- 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2, and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement).
- 1993: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 3 and 4 (excluded from Y2K supplement).
