Description
For sample adults over age 18 who have ever smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their life and are former every day smokers or who have not smoked in the past 30 days but have ever smoked every day for at least 6 months, FSMOKDALYY indicates the total number of years the respondent smoked every day, excluding time they stopped smoking for at least 6 months or longer. (An "every day" smoker was someone who reported smoking "every day" to the question, "Do you now smoke cigarettes every day or some days?").

A similar variable, CESMOKDALYY, was created for respondents who indicated "some day" to the question listed above.
Universe
- 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2 and 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes and either don't smoke at all now OR said they don't smoke at all now but smoke some days, and have not smoked in the past 30 days, OR smoke some days now but haven't smoked in the past 30 days, AND have ever smoked cigarettes every day for at least 6 months.
