Description
For sample adults over age 18 who have ever smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their life and are current every day smokers or those who ever smoked every day for at least 6 months, CESMOKDALYY indicates the total number of years the respondent smoked every day, excluding time they stopped smoking for at least 6 months or longer. (An "every day" smoker was someone who reported smoking "every day" to the question, " Do you now smoke cigarettes every day or some days?").

A similar variable, CSSMOKDALYY, was created for respondents who indicated "some day" to the question listed above.
Universe
- 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2, and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes, smoke cigarettes now, and smoke every day.
