For sample persons age 20 and older in the second half of 1975, EXHANDBPAR indicates whether the person had participated in handball in the past 12 months.

Handball was one of 15 sports (including one residual "other" category) that respondents were asked about in the 1975 NHIS. Those who responded "Yes" to EXHANDBPAR were asked whether they had participated in handball as part of a team (EXHANDBTEM) and whether they had participated in handball tournaments either as an individual or as a member of a team (EXHANDBTOR) during the past 12 months.
