Description
For sample adults who delayed, had trouble, or were unable to get care from a hospital emergency room during the past 12 months (ERDELAYR), ERDUNINSURE identifies those who reported that the delay was due to having no health insurance.
Sample adults who indicated that they had delayed, had trouble or were unable to get care from a hospital ER were asked, "What were the reasons you delayed or had trouble getting care from a hospital emergency room?" From a flashcard, respondents selected all reasons that applied.

Other reasons for delay, and the associated variables, are the following:
- Not sure needed emergency room care (ERDUNSURE)
- Could not take time off from work (ERDWORK)
- Did not have child care (ERDKIDCARE)
- Did not have transportation (ERDTRANS)
- Ambulance did not arrive quickly enough (ERDAMBLATE)
