Description

For sample adults whose main reason for not working last week was because they couldn't find work, performed seasonal or contract work, were retired, unable to work for health reasons, taking care of the house/family, going to school, worked at a job or business but not for pay, or some other reason, or refused or didn't know the main reason they were not working last week (WHYNOWK2), EMPLAST reports the last time the respondent worked for pay.

Comparability

In 2020, seasonal or contract workers were coded as "Unknown-not ascertained". In 2021, seasonal or contract workers report their main reason for not working last week.

Universe

  • 2019-2022: Sample adults age 18+ whose main reason for not working last week was because they couldn't find work, performed seasonal or contract work, were retired, unable to work for health reasons, taking care of the house/family, going to school, worked at a job or business but not for pay, or some other reason, or refused or didn't know the main reason they were not working last week (WHYNOWK2).
