For sample persons aged 18 years and over, EHFATCHIP indicates if the respondent thought there was more fat in potato chips or pretzels. Interviewers read respondents a series of pairs of foods and asked which food the respondent thought had more fat. Respondents could choose one food, indicate both had the same amount of fat, or indicate that they were unsure which food had more fat.
EHFATCHIP is part of a series of variables initiated in 1987 dealing with food, food knowledge, and cancer. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus or see DIETCHANGEV.
