For sample children age 4 to 17, DEPRESSNYR reports responses to the question, "During the past 12 months, has a doctor or other health professional told you that [sample child] had ... Depression?"

Comparability

This variable is only available for 2007.

Information on depression among adults is available in several variables. For 2007, DEPFREQYR reports whether sample adults were frequently depressed during the past 12 months. For 2002, DEPRESSYR reports whether sample adults were frequently depressed or anxious during the past 12 months.
