Description
For sample adults and sample children who have had one or more COVID-19 vaccinations (CVDSHTNUM), CVDYRDOSE1 reports the year of their most recent COVID-19 vaccination. This question was asked on a limited basis in 2021 and 2022, based on the availability of COVID vaccines and the age groups for which they were available. Users should refer to the universe tab for details and use caution when comparing across time.
NCHS added nearly 30 questions related to COVID starting in quarter 3 of the 2020 NHIS questionnaire, eight of which are asked of both sample adults and sample children. For the full list of variables, as well as information about COVID-related changes to the NHIS, please see the user note.
Universe
- 2021: Sample adults 18+ interviewed in quarters 2-4 and sample children 12-17 interviewed in quarters 3 and 4 who gave month of most recent COVID-19 vaccination or don't know (CVDMODOSE1)
- 2022: Sample adults 18+ and sample children ages 5-17 who have had one or more COVID-19 vaccinations, and if interviewed in August through December, sample children ages 0-4 who have had one or more COVID-19 vaccinations (CVDSHTNUM).
- 2023: Sample adults 18+ and sample children ages 0-17 who have had one or more COVID-19 vaccinations (CVDSHTNUM).
