For sample persons age 17 and older who are current smokers and ever made a serious attempt to quit smoking, CSQUITINTERV reports the length of time since the start of the person's most recent serious attempt to quit in years or months. Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
