For sample persons age 18 and over, CANMOCHEW reports if the person thought that the use of chewing tobacco or snuff increased one's risk of oral cancer. Persons were told that oral cancer was, "lip, mouth, tongue, or throat" cancer and were asked to report yes, no, or if they did not know, as regards to increased cancer risk.

Related variables: persons were also asked if they thought the following reasons increased one's risk of cancer:

  • CANMOSMOKE, smoking cigarettes, cigars, or a pipe
