For sample adults over age 40 who have had a blood stool test in the past 3 years, because of a health problem, BSTYLBS reports a reason for last blood stool test (unspecified type) was blood in the stool. Respondents could report more than one reason, including the following other reasons:

- pain, BSTYLPAIN
- constipation, BSTYLCON
- bleeding, BSTYLBLD
- blood in the stool, BSTYLBS
- ulcers, BSTYLULC
- an unrelated medical problem, BSTYLUNMD

Universe
- 1992: Half of sample persons persons age 40+ in quarters 1 and 2, and first 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have ever heard of a blood stool test, have had a blood stool test in the past three years, and whose reason for the last test was because of a specific health problem.
