Description

For sample adults who were ever diagnosed by a doctor or other health professional as having "inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel, or constipation severe enough to require medication" (BOWELIRINFEV) and who had this condition during the past 12 months (IRRBOWELYR), BOWELCONYR identifies those who had constipation severe enough to require medication during the past 12 months. Interviewers asked, "Which of these did you have in the past 12 months?" and listed "Constipation severe enough to require medication" as a possible response. Other possible responses included:
