Description

For sample persons aged 18 and over who have donated blood since March 1985, BLOODMO85 reports the month of the person's most recent blood donation.

BLOODMO85 should be paired with BLOODYR85 (year last gave blood after March 1985) for a complete month and year time since the person's last blood donation.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable. Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IHIS weights.

Universe

  • 1993: Half of sample persons age 18+ in Q3 and Q4 (excluded from Y2K supplement) who have donated blood since March 1985.
  • 1994-1995: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from Y2K supplement) who have donated blood since March 1985.
