For sample adults who have ever seen a health professional for symptoms of dizziness or a balance problem (not including health professionals seen in the emergency room) (BALSAWHPEV), BALSAWAUDIO indicates whether the person ever saw an audiologist for the balance problem.

This variable was part of the Sample Adult Balance Supplement, sponsored by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.

Universe

  • 2016: Sample adults 18+ who had a balance or dizziness problem in the past 12 months or who had at least one symptom in the past 12 months AND who ever visited the hospital (including ER) about a dizziness or balance problem.
