Codes and Frequencies
Description
For sample persons ages 18 and over who expect to have a blood test for the AIDS virus infection in the next twelve months, ATRNYRMILIT reports if the respondent expects to have the blood test because she/he expects to join the military.
Comparability
In 1990 the response category associated with this question is more broadly "as a requirement for the military", which is less specific than for joining the military. This may affect comparability. Changes in survey design (e.g. quarters or subsamples) affect raw frequencies but do not affect comparability between samples. As always, data users should apply prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
