Codes and Frequencies
Description
For sample adults ages 18 and older who had their blood tested for the AIDS virus as part of some activity that requires a blood sample and automatic AIDS testing, ATPLPC reports if the respondent's blood was tested at a prenatal clinic.
Respondents who reported having donated blood after 1985 were not included in this sample unless they specifically reported having had an AIDS test. NHIS has released a version of this variable in which persons who did not report having had an AIDS test but did report donating blood since March 1985 were re-classified as "Unknown - Not Ascertained." The alternative variable does not differ from this variable in frequencies for respondent-provided codes.
