Description

For sample persons ages 18 and older who have had their blood tested for the AIDS virus infection, and who received the results of their blood test, ATLWAITWK is an NHIS recoded variable that reports number of weeks the person waited to get the results of her/his test.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable. Changes in survey design (e.g. quarters or subsamples) affect raw frequencies but do not affect comparability between samples. As always, data users should apply prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
