Description

For sample persons ages 18 and over, ATHOMETH reports which method the respondent would use if a then-unavailable at-home HIV test that provides results by mail or telephone were available. Response options include "New method (home test)," "Go to a doctor's office or clinic," or "Not have test."

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable. Changes in survey design (e.g. quarters or subsamples) affect raw frequencies but do not affect comparability between samples. As always, data users should apply prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
