Description

For sample persons ages 18 and over who have ever heard of a blood test for the AIDS virus infection, ATCOUNEV reports if the person has ever received counseling or had a talk with a health professional about taking the AIDS virus blood test.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable. Changes in survey design (e.g. quarters or subsamples) affect raw frequencies but do not affect comparability between samples. As always, data users should apply prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
