Description
For sample persons age 55 and over, this variable indicates if the respondent had an aneurysm in past 12 months. A definition of aneurysm was not provided to respondents and was assumed to be defined by the respondent. The inquiry did not require diagnosis by a medical doctor or health professional.
[show more]ANEURYSMYR variable was part of the 1984 Supplement on Aging, which asked respondents if they had or ever had vision, hearing, heart, and bone conditions and other impairments.
Along with ANEURYSMYR, respondents were asked if they had any 4 other conditions in the past 12 months, and could indicate as many as necessary.

- DIABETICYR had diabetes
- BLOODCLOTYR had blood clots in arms/legs/lungs
- ARTHORHEUMYRhad arthritis or rheumatism
- VARICOSEYR had varicose veins
They were then asked a series of 5 questions on falls in the last 12 months (FELYR).
