Description
ALCMOS12MO reports the number of months in the past year when the person had at least one drink. Please see Comparability and Universe tab for changes in the universe.

Comparability
Due to changes in universe, this variable is not comparable between samples. In 1983, this question was asked of sample persons ages 18 and older who had twelve drinks in any year of their life, at least one drink in the past year, did not drink the past two weeks and did not report having quit drinking. In 1988, this question was asked of sample persons ages 18 and over who have had twelve drinks in the past year and at least one drink in the last two weeks, who did not drink every month in the past year.
Universe
- 1983: Sample persons ages 18+ who have had twelve drinks in any year of their life, at least one drink in the past year, did not drink in the past two weeks, and did not report having quit drinking.
- 1988: Sample persons ages 18+ who have had twelve drinks in the past year and at least one drink in the last two weeks, who did not drink every month in the last year.
