Description

For sample persons ages 18 and over, AIDEDOTH reports if, in the past month, the person received information about AIDS from a source other than those listed. Listed sources include: television programs, radio programs, magazine articles, newspaper articles, street signs/billboards, store displays/store-distributed brochures, bus/street-car/subway displays, health department brochures, workplace-distributed brochures, school-distributed brochures, church-distributed brochures, community organizations, friend/acquiantances, and AIDS hotlines. Persons could report more than one source of information about AIDS.

This variable is part of the NHIS supplement on AIDS knowledge and attitudes. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.

Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IHIS weights.
