Description

For respondents who mentioned more than one condition when asked what the doctor said caused their abdominal pain (ABPDIAGCON1, ABPDIAGCON2, ABPDIAGCON3, ABPDIAGCON4, and ABPDIAGCON5), ABPDIAGMOST reports which of these conditions caused the most pain during the past 12 months. For respondents who mentioned only one condition, that condition is reported for ABPDIAGMOST by default.

Comparability

This variable is only available in 1989 as part of the Digestive Disease Supplement.

Universe

  • 1989: Sample persons age 18+ who ever visited doctor for abdominal pain and whose doctor said what was the cause of the pain
