Description

For sample adults and sample children who had at least one COVID-19 vaccination (CVDSHTNUM), CVDSHTTYPE1 reports the brand of their first COVID-19 shot. In 2022, this question was asked of sample adults and sample children 5-17 or sample children 0-4 whom interviews were completed in August-December 2022 (INTERVWMO)

Users should note that category "4 = Novavax shot" was added to the survey in Q4 of 2022, meaning it was not available as a response option prior to October 2022.

This variable is one of several COVID-related immunization questions sponsored by the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD).

Comparability

There are comparability issues for this variable, especially if considering the 2024 sample where the question was only asked to children age 0-4 who had at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose. See the Universe tab for details.
