Description
For sample children with at least one residential parent, PAR1MARSTAT reports the legal marital status of that parent. This variable classifies marital status into categories comparable to those defined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). For the status of a second residential parent, see PAR2MARSTAT.
This variable was deprecated in 2024. Users looking for a current measure of parental marital status should use PAR1MARLEG.
