Description

For sample children and sample adults in a family in which the sample adult has a known response to EDUC, MAXEDUC reports the highest educational attainment of all the adults in their family.

Comparability

This variable is largely comparable over time. In 2021, the categories of Professional Degree and Doctoral Degree were collapsed together to preserve confidentiality.

Universe

  • 2019-2024: Sample children ages 0-17 and sample adults ages 18+ in a family in which the sample adult has a known response to EDUC.
