For sample adults who have ever seen/talked to a doctor, LVISPLACE indicates whether the respondent went to clinic or health center, doctor's office or HMO, hospital emergency room, hospital outpatient department, urgent care center, or some other place on the last health care visit.

This variable can be used to monitor the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
