Description
MODIAC reports the type of cancer the person's mother was diagnosed with the FIRST time she was diagnosed with cancer. This was asked of sample persons ages 18 and older who reported that their biological mother was ever diagnosed with cancer, provided the type of cancer which the mother was diagnosed as having, and reported that his or her mother was diagnosed with another type of cancer.

Universe
- 1987: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from CACT supplement) who did not report that they never knew their natural mother, whose mother was ever diagnosed with cancer with a valid cancer code, and whose mother was also diagnosed with other cancer with a valid cancer code.
